meeting effectiveness

“Sharon delivered her “Mad about Meetings” presentation for my productivity group at HP- the group was impressed and engaged. Sharon had instant credibility when describing their woes before they could volunteer them. They were hooked with the “symptoms” and were eager to hear techniques that would produce real benefits and ease their pain. Many of the reviews included commitments and new standards for meeting behavior – saving loads of time and money. I would recommend this training to all companies suffering from days of meetings with no time to actually produce results. I personally walked away with a plan to engage all the learning types through NLP. She was great!!”

Shawna Corden, ACC, PMP
Executive Coach, HP

As a result of the work I’ve done with Sharon Rich over the past two years,  I’ve seen tremendous results in my relationships with my direct reports. I’ve been able to lessen the intensity in my department, and in so doing have gained respect and am noticing a greater willingness on employees’ part to go the extra mile. I’ve developed a new ability to set clear boundaries for myself, and others. I have more clarity about what my responsibilities are — and what they aren’t—and am better able to communicate that effectively.  I am simultaneously realizing my worth within the company and choosing to create a better work-life balance. I have more assurance in my own abilities than ever before. For the first time, I’m finding my own way as a leader.

Gloria A. Vogt-Nilsen
Director Financial Consulting
CB Richard Ellis Investors

Sharon's coaching has had a profound effect on my professional growth. I have become more confident as director of a team of six people. I am able to manage and coach with a more dynamic and open style. Sharon has taught me that leadership begins with self-respect and knowing yourself. When you are confident about who you are and develop the ability to listen openly and speak from a place that is true for you, leadership emerges and weaves through all aspects of your life—not just at work.

Sharon has great techniques and proven track record of mentoring senior executives to shift from "doing" to "leading", develop higher levels of emotional intelligence, improve their communication skills, think more strategically, and achieve breakthrough results within their organization.

Pat Pellicano

Sharon is one of the most resourceful and networked people I know. She always know the right person, information, program or book that makes the key difference. As an accredited coach she has the experience and training to make a huge impact on people's lives, and on every level she finds a way to contribute where it matters most. One might think all this could go to a person's head, yet Sharon has the curiosity and humility of a beginner that makes every person feel at home around her.

Robert Richman
Director of Community
PeopleJam

I have known Sharon for nearly 20 years and deeply trust her judgment - both professionally and personally. She has a strong ability to provide guidance, insight and direction while displaying tremendous integrity.

Renee Miller
President & Creative Director

After my first meeting with Sharon, I immediately saw a difference in the way I approached business.  Not only was my passion and focus restored, within two weeks we were awarded two jobs, one of which will greatly improve our reel.  Sharon's support made this possible.  Her insight and understanding are impressive. I look forward to seeing what can happen after our next meeting!

Sally House-Miller
CEO
The Hit House

In coaching me through a business start-up, Sharon exhibited skills of the highest order. She was extremely professional, perceptive, direct, and effective while supplying a welcome dimension of strong support and inspiration. In both her personal and professional life, she has set the bar especially high as a model of personal and professional integrity. She fully walks the talk. For that and more, I could not recommend Sharon more highly.

Case Study:
Mad About Meetings

When surveyed, 200 middle managers in a Fortune 10 company estimated that 40% of their time was wasted in ineffective meetings.

This was a 90% work from home company, and so people spent much of their day in phone meetings with the additional challenges that go along with distance, multiple locations, technology, etc. We delivered an overview training in webinar format, both teaching and demonstrating the principles of effective virtual meetings, including ways to keep people engaged, dealing with cultural/locational differences and creating accountability.

Results of our follow up survey showed that:

  • 84% were engaged and felt the training was a useful expenditure of their time
  • 82% left the training motivated to put at least 3 new tools into practice in upcoming meetings
  • 88% would recommend this training for other managers

Leadership Transition

In March of 2009, A media technology client was on their third round of layoffs in a year. In the past they had used a large outplacement firm, but surveys of the exiting staff had indicated that they had found the services to be too generic and not useful.

Leadership Incorporated provided a highly personalized assessment and career coaching program that met people where they were in their job search process. We provided direction on everything from resume, interviewing techniques, use of social media, overall strategy and managing the emotional aspects of the process.

We provided a highly cost effective solution that reduced the financial impact of providing outplacement and produced results!

Within 4 months, e
very staff member who took advantage of the services offered had found new employment that matched their goals.

360 Job

A nonprofit organization was facing the challenge of a lot of turnover over several years in a particular position. This position required 3-4 months of training to achieve a level of basic competency, but new hires were resigning within one year.

Using our proprietary 360 job program, we conducted 360 degree interviews of everyone who served, depended upon or otherwise touched that position, including those who had held the position and left the company, those currently in the position, those who reported to the position, supervisors, etc.

Leadership Incorporated helped the agency to get a clear picture of the current demands on the position, the challenges faced by those in the role, required skill sets, knowledge base and professional style for future candidates and the needs, wants and expectations of all concerned.

We identified a design flaw in the job specs which was contributing to the short tenure challenge. We also provided a detailed report reevaluating the job specifications, which will serve as a powerful tool for interviewing and evaluating future candidates for the position.
We worked closely with management to identify 6 alternate courses of action that could extend the tenure and maximize the value of this position.
